*School-Wide Announcements*

Report Cards 

  • Students received hard copies of their mid-term report cards yesterday (Fri the 12th). 
  • If, for some strange reason, the hard copy did not make it home...you can check their grades through the INow Home Portal anytime, located under the Parent Resources section on the HHS Website. 

Orphaned

  • Congrats to the 14 students who have picked up their shirts...but...201 Paid-for Homecoming Shirts still do not have a home!  Please take a look at THIS UPDATED LIST and see if your student has a long-lost t-shirt that was purchased during registration. Pick up is during 5th period in Mrs. Kreider's room (241). 

This Week 

  • NOW thru Wednesday, October 17th at noon - Parent Teacher Conference scheduling portal can be accessed through the HHS WebsiteParents who would like to schedule a conference with their student's teachers will be able to sign up for a 15 minute conference.  A tutorial for how to use the sign up software is available on the website as well.  
  • NOW thru Wed, Oct 17th  - Powderpuff Football sign-ups 
    • Students must turn in a sign-up form with parent signature and cash/check for $20 to Mrs. Kreider's room (241)

  • Thurs Oct 18th 3:30pm-6:30 - Parent Teacher Conferences
  • Fri Oct 19th 7:30am-11:00 -  Parent Teacher Conferences 
  • Fri Oct 19th - NO SCHOOL! Enjoy the long weekend!

Looking Ahead

  • Oct 30th - "The United States of NUMB" - 8:30-10:00am, Homewood Board of Education at 450 Dale Avenue. A parenting program sponsored by the Safe & Healthy Homewood Coalition, presented by Angela Camp from Bradford Health Services. Click HERE for online power point resource. 

 

*Grade-Level Announcements*

  9th - 

  • Regarding Parent Teacher Conferences... Freshman conference times typically fill up quickly.  If a freshman conference time is not available, parents should contact Tonya Mills, the 9th grade counselor, at tmills@homewood.k12.al.us  .  

  10th - 

  • Wed Oct 17th - Pre-ACT Testing for Sophomores.  Get a good night's sleep and eat a substantial breakfast!

  10th-12th -

  • Regarding Parent Teacher Conferences...  If an individual teacher from grades 10 - 12 does not have a conference time available, parents should email the teacher directly to request a different date and time.  Teachers' email addresses can be found on the HHS website. 

  11th -

  • Tues Oct 30th - "Finding the Right College Fit"  - a college planning program for Juniors and their parents, 6pm-7 in the Bailey Theater at HHS.  Additional topics include: standardized testing, NCAA eligibility, financial aid & scholarships, resources, and a Junior year timeline. 

  12th -  

  • DEADLINE FYI - OCT 15th is the first typical college application deadline date. Others are Nov 1st, Nov 15th, Dec 1st, Dec 15th and Jan 1st. 
  • DEADLINE FYI - Nov 2nd is the next deadline for both the December SAT (1st) and ACT (8th).  
  • Class of 2019 Fall Newsletter has tons of super-useful, stay-on-top-of-things information like dates, deadlines, announcements, task lists, etc. to guide you through your Senior Fall.  

 

***CONSTRUCTION CORNER***  

The next few weeks should be soooo.....
Uneventful. 

The initial phase of construction involves all things Utility...water, sewer, electrical, etc. The sexy stuff won't start for another month. Ish.

  • Thurs, Oct 18th - Parent Teacher Conference Snack Break  - The Hospitality Team is looking for volunteers to provide a variety of sweet and salty snacks - both homemade and store bought - to help our teachers maintain their conference schedule, uninterrupted.  Sign up online using link above. Monetary contributions also accepted! Items should be delivered to HHS on Thurs before 3pm.
  • Fri, Nov 2nd - Spirit Gear Sales at the HOME football game vs Paul Bryant (shifts available from 20 min before the game until just before halftime).  ï»¿One shift earns you 25% off one spirit gear item!

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO SUPPORT HHS:

  • Late October - a chance to help students prepare for the real world by assisting with an Interview Day for Seniors. Parents should contact Delisa Brooks, HHS Counselor and Career Coach at dbrooks@homewood.k12.al.us or at 205.871.9663 if interested.
