Looking Ahead

Thursday, September 13 during 5th period - Belmont will be back on campus for picture retakes. The proofs from the pictures taken the first week of school should be here before September 13 so students will have the opportunity to make a decision about retakes.
Tuesday, Sept 25th 6-8pm - Keeping our Daughters Safe at the Junior League of Birmingham, provided by area schools and coalitions. Attendance is FREE, but please REGISTER HERE. Click title link for details.

Just So You Know

There is a new CHECK-OUT POLICY in effect. (see pg 14 of student handbook via this link) You will want to familiarize yourself with the guidelines, as it requires either your physical presence at the school at some point after 7AM on the day of check-out, OR a Facetime/Google Hangout conference with Ms. High, the attendance clerk. Why? Because...
- Per Mr. Cunningham (Asst. Principal of Discipline), during any given class period, up to 50-60 students were missing instruction without appropriate or legitimate Parent Consent through misuse/abuse of the previous policy . (mostly upperclassmen)
- The new policy is student-centered, and reflects best practice for attendance and safety that most Over the Mountain schools have been using for years.
- Since the start of this school year, attendance is significantly increased compared to the same time period last year.
- Please be respectful as you are checking your student out and implementing this new policy. It is not result of any sole decision-maker, but reflects a collaborative effort to keep our students safe... Ms. High is just the messenger.

Visit the Senior section on the HHS PTO website for Senior Moms Pep Rally Dance Updates.
Senior yearbook ad materials as well as Quotes and Accomplishments forms and information are available in the library, in senior English classrooms, and in the Senior Class course on Schoology. The deadline for all of these materials is October 5. Please contact Mrs. Dameron-Vines with any questions.
