*CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Keep your eyes on the prize above!Demolition has been ongoing and is almost complete! You may still see dump trucks leaving the campus as they remove the last of the rubble and debris. There is not yet an official start date for construction this Fall, but that will be the next phase of the project as it moves forward.

*PARKING AND CARPOOL UPDATE:     Imagine moving nearly 1200 students off campus, all at the same time. In 30 minutes. Given the geography of the campus, there are bound to be bottlenecks, but thank you for your patience as new procedures were implemented.

Currently, there are no students waiting for a parking pass. Everyone who is eligible to acquire a pass and who has requested one has a parking pass in his/her possession. There are a total of 368 parking spots available: 292 on campus, and an additional 76 around the Samford Track and Field facility.  This provides a parking spot for EVERY permit-holding driver, although that does not guarantee the spot they desire. Although assessment is ongoing, below are a few suggestions and guidelines for easing your student's current parking woes:
  • For planning purposes: the small, middle-tier side lot fills up by 7:20; the larger Tier 1 & Tier 2 lots are full just after 7:30.
  • In the event your student must park in the reserved spots around the Samford Track facility, there are 2 options for accessing the main campus.
    • OPTION 1: Walk along the approved pedestrian pathway  which is monitored by a traffic officer mornings and afternoons.
    • OPTION 2: A morning shuttle picks up at the Track Fieldhouse at 7:40 and again at 7:53. It drops off on Tier 2 at the Pathways building. This shuttle is free. The afternoon shuttle leaves from the Pathways building at 3:20 and delivers students back to the Track Fieldhouse.
  • Carpool will move more smoothly if drivers honor the intended use of the lanes in front of the school building. The right lane, closest to the school, is the only lane approved for student pickup. The left lane is intended for those cars who have already picked up their student(s) and are exiting the carpool area, leaving the west side of campus.  PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE LEFT LANE AND WAIT FOR YOUR STUDENT.  This will be a tremendous help in maintaining traffic flow.
